About Northern Virginia

The Northern Virginia area is composed of the section that is located southward and westward from Washington, D.C., which also includes the Washington Metropolitan Area. This large area is where tourists visit the most in the entire state. The Arlington National Cemetery located in this region has more than 600 acres with graves of well-known historical Americans like John F. Kennedy, William Howard Taft, and Robert Kennedy, among others.

From there, tourists can visit Great Falls Park, which is an 800-acre park set alongside the Potomac River. There are spectacular views and a variety of activities, including picnics, hiking, bicycling and horseback riding. For the more adventurous tourists, you can also find some rock climbing areas in the park for your enjoyment.

You can also celebrate the nation’s history with the various memorials set up in Northern Virginia. Visit the Iwo Jima Memorial which commemorates a historic WWII battle or the US Air Force Memorial which honors the men and women of the USAF.
